Supa Story: We Are Back! And With BIG News.
Championing compelling African stories and the incredible storytellers behind them.
Dear Supa Scripter
Guess who's back? After a quick break (we were still working behind the scenes, of course), we are here to say a bright and bubbly good morning to our amazing community of storytellers. And trust us, we didn’t just take time off—we’ve been cooking! Now, the food is ready, and we can’t wait for you to feast on what we’ve been up to.
If you’ve been with us for a while, you know Emerge Story Company is all about championing compelling African stories and the incredible storytellers behind them. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce that the Emerge Story Conference is back for its fourth edition!

A Look Inside Emerge Story Conference 4.0
This year, the conference will be entirely virtual, happening from TOMORROW, March 4-8, 2025, under the theme “Accelerate Progress.” Aligned with International Women’s Month, this conference is designed to empower female African storytellers who are shaping the film industry one story at a time.
But before we jump into what’s ahead, let’s take a moment to celebrate what we achieved last year. The Emerge Story Conference 2024 was a resounding success, filled with inspiring conversations and major milestones. Some highlights included:
Honouring the legendary Joke Silva (MFR) with the Lifetime Achievement Award for Storytelling.
Recognizing powerhouse female storytellers like Lucille Ayorinde (Super Story), Kemi Adesoye (The Figurine, A Naija Christmas), Emem Isong (Games Women Play, Mr & Mrs Right), Gloria Bamiloye (Agbara Nla, Busy But Guilty), and Grace Edwin Okon (When Star Cross, Whose Meal Ticket).
Celebrating 30 outstanding female screenwriters through the SheWrites 30 List.
Partnering with Coverfly and Final Draft to award 25 complimentary FD12 one-year licenses to female screenwriters in our community.
What To Expect From ESC 4.0
This year, we’re bringing even more fire!
🎬 Emerge Shorts – A curated short film screening showcasing powerful African narratives led by strong female protagonists.
📝SheWrites Intensive Lab (SWIL) – An immersive lab offering emerging screenwriters expert mentorship and hands-on learning.
🎙️ Masterclasses, Panel Discussions & Workshops led by industry heavyweights like Bunmi Ajakaiye, Omotunde Akiode, Ifeanyi Barbara Chidi, Karachi Atiya, and Damilola Aleje.
